WASTE

A number of the EU’s initiative’s look at all stages in production processes - including disposal of the end products that move along GVCs to and from the EU market. The EU is developing new initiatives on waste, in line with its broader circular economy objectives.

In 2025, the EU adopted new rules on packaging and waste - Regulation 2025/40. Other rules are set down in the revised Waste Shipment Regulation (Regulation 2024/1157).
